Hiking and Kayaking Near Hearst Castle Lodging
Hearst Castle is often the prime focus of trips
to the central coast, but there are many outdoor activities that can
complement your tour of William Randolph Hearst’s masterpiece.
Kayaking and hiking are two fun activities that will give you a
taste of the beautiful surroundings that the central coast has to
offer.
William Randolph Hearst State Beach in San
Simeon is a gorgeous cove set just beneath Hearst Castle. Kayaking,
hiking, swimming, and beachcombing await you on this untouched
stretch of beach surrounded by rolling hills and natural beauty.
You can hike through the pine forest to San Simeon Point and get
fantastic views of Emerald Cove. The hike is very easy and the
beautiful vistas make the trek quite rejuvenating.
Kayaking is offered by Sea for Yourself, which
is based out of San Simeon Cove. The kayak tour for the cove lasts
approximately two hours and costs $45. There is an additional $3
fee to park in the William Randolph Hearst State Beach lot.
Lodging near Hearst Castle and the cove can be found in Cambria,
California. After a long day of touring, kayaking, or hiking, the
